personal projectI have always been fascinated with hand-lettering, the art of sign painting, but I wanted to explore how this interest and passion could apply to me. That led me to the idea of painting on an enamel camp mug. It was a mug that sat at my desk and occassionally started conversations in the office where I was worked. This led to sharing other hand painted mugs with friends and soon enough, I decided there was an opportunity to open this up to people I didn’t know via Etsy (very short lived) and then by launching my own website to sell mugs and tell this story.
The business side of things was pretty daunting and very often got in the way of creativity. I am still learning how to navigate this and as of lately Camp Mug Supply Co has been on and off my mind. I started this project as a creative outlet, to meet great people along the way, and it accomplished both of those things very successfully in from my perspective. I’ve yet to decide how this project transitions further but for now, I still think about it often and see a greater opportunity for somewhere down the road.
